Bringing food back to the farmers.

SEK Mushrooms grows specialty mushrooms in Iola, Kansas. Now we're building something bigger: a local food network that connects Kansas farms directly with the people who eat their food.

Why

Right now, too much of what farmers earn gets lost between the field and your table. Families pay more, farmers get less, and almost nobody knows where their food really came from. We think that's backwards.

What we're building

  • Fair prices both ways. Farmers earn more for what they grow. Families get stable, fair prices.
  • Know your food. See which farm grew it, and when.
  • One place to learn. Free education, guides and training from trusted sources like K-State and the state, all in one spot, so farmers don't have to chase it everywhere.
  • Grant help that fits your farm. Grants sorted by farm size and difficulty, from beginner to advanced.
  • Paperwork made easy. Simple tools for batch records, labels and documentation.
  • A network, not a feed. Farm families sharing what they're doing, helping each other and working together. Family friendly. No ads from outside companies. We never sell your data.

Where we're starting

Southeast Kansas first, then growing across Kansas. We're launching in stages, starting with a small invite-only pilot of local farms, and we'll only open each piece once it's tested and ready.

Kansas growers: join KSCGA

The Kansas Specialty Crop Growers Association (KSCGA) is a statewide network of independent growers of vegetables, fruits, herbs, grapes and wine, honey, fiber and other specialty crops, with roots going back to 1939.

Members connect with growers across the state to share ideas and support, get discounts from KSCGA business supporters, and have a collective voice for specialty crops in Kansas policy. Membership is open to all Kansas growers, markets, agencies and individuals.

Get your farm or market in the KSCGA grower directory so buyers and other growers across Kansas can find you.

Membership is $50 a year. A $100 Supporting Membership also gives a newer or smaller Kansas grower a free one-year membership.

Can't swing the $50? Email us and we'll help you find a way. SEK Mushrooms is a KSCGA Regional Collaborator, here to help Southeast Kansas growers get connected.
